I just started reading R. J. Palacio’s Wonder (amazing book, by the way), and stumbled across this quote on her website. It was so pertinent to some of the things I was thinking about when I wrote my last post that I had to share it:
I kept waiting for the perfect time in my life to start writing, but after more than twenty years of designing book jackets for other people, I realized that the perfect time would never really present itself. It’s never the perfect time to start writing a book. So I decided to just go for it.
I, for one, find it encouraging that, despite her late start, Palacio could write such a rich, inspiring book in the snippets of time around her “real” life (she says she wrote most of it between 12-2 a.m.).
And if you haven’t read Wonder yet, you should! It’s been called a “meditation on kindness” for good reason.
It's already on my reading list 🙂
